DESIGN:
Created using an 1833 wood block print by artist Vollmy, this print depicts the earliest recorded Leonid Meteor shower, in which more than 240,000 meteors fell from the sky in one night. Dubbed as a “rain of stars” to the amazement and astonishment of onlookers in towns and villages across North America with an estimated 100,000 meteors per hour, this extraordinary event was a kickstart for major scientific advancement. The detailed moon on the sleeves features astronomy artwork produced at the Camille Flammarion Observatory near Paris in 1899. These historic beauties come together to create this timeless wearable art: Stargazer.
