THE MAKER:

Janine was born and raised in Germany, moving to the US in 2006. Although her degree in fine arts had its focus on printmaking, she eventually found her love for weaving. Her graphic background is evident in each design, handmade at her studio in Spartanburg, SC. All weavings are sewn with needle, thread, glass seed beads, and ear wires handmade from Niobium (a naturally hypoallergenic metal). Seed bead weaving has a long tradition amongst women all around the world. Janine wants to help pass on this tradition while creating wearable art that reflects her love for the natural beauty of the Appalachian mountains, which she called home for more than 10 years.
